Critical Role Campaign 4 Introduces the Warriors Table

Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master Brennan Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with extensive world-building, a wide array of characters, and a exciting storyline including celestial beings, demons, and dark forces expanding in influence within the city.

Heads-up: Key plot points for Episode 3 of Campaign 4 are included.

The Combat-Oriented Party Unveiled

Episode 3 concluded with a huge suspense moment and revealed the premier party of characters who will separate from the central cast to embark on their own adventure, separate from the remaining groups.

This warrior group consists of Teor Pridesire (portrayed by the voice actor), Thimble (Laura Bailey), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (Sam), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).

Dividing the Cast

Considering 13 cast members, it was clear from the outset that having everyone at a single group would be impossible.

That’s why, the first four episodes of this story serve as an Introduction, connecting the characters’ stories before dividing into three distinct groups: Soldiers, Schemers, and Explorers.

Characteristics of the Combat Party

According to the Dungeon Master, the Soldiers table is for adventurers who enjoy a classically intense fight-heavy narrative style where diplomatic options are rare.

Initially, characters like the reluctant priest Wicander might seem mismatched, but the actions of the latest installment make it clear why these five characters are perfectly fit for the warrior group.

Motivations for Departure

To begin with, the group understands precisely where to head next after a brutal opening clash with The Crow Keepers.

Casimir of Thjazi—whose passing started the story’s plot—manipulated the enemy for his selfish purposes, breaking into the secret base, attacking Thimble, and taking all the magical artifacts to sell off.

The traitor then cleared his liabilities and ran away to a Halovar stronghouse in the northern region, north of the city, with Cyd pursuing him.

Personal Motivations

Additionally, each member has a personal reason to leave the city the metropolitan area:

  • The agile hero, as the close ally and trusted friend, desires revenge.
  • The adventurer knows the northern area and advises that it is a dangerous place.
  • The warrior and The healer, having defied his house’s orders to eliminate the fighter and instead saved him, have no other options.
  • But, their reputation as prominent individuals in House Halovar could help the party enter areas they normally couldn’t.
  • Furthermore, Teor pledged a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his salvation and will now follow him anywhere.

Pursued by Authorities

Finally, all of them are sought by the authorities that rule the setting for a multiple motives, making lingering locally no longer safe:

  • The rogue and Kattigan are recognized lawbreakers.
  • The warrior and Wicander turned against House Halovar and the horde of evil beings they are partnered with.
  • Teor is marked for death by House Halovar.

This results in them few options but to journey toward Timmony in search of the traitor.

What’s Next?

Based on the latest episode’s follow-up content, we learn that the combat party will not appear the following episode, leaving the other eight participants to round up the Questers and Planners tables.

Viewers can anticipate learning which players will be assigned to which table in Campaign 4’s concluding setup installment, available to watch on next week.
