Tropical Storm the storm is predicted to escalate to a uncommon highest-level hurricane as it veers towards the Caribbean island, delivering life-threatening rapid inundation and mudslides.

The hurricane, which registered wind speeds of up to 120 miles per hour as of 06:00 GMT, is presently veering toward the northwest in the Caribbean Sea and is expected to hit the coast by midweek, based on data from weather experts.

Warnings of blackouts and structural damage have been issued as the hurricane brings up to thirty inches of rain and coastal flooding as high as thirteen feet above normal levels. "Find safe refuge immediately," locals have been told.

The cyclone is the thirteenth hurricane in this year's Atlantic storm period, which typically ends in the eleventh month.

Category Five Cyclone Threat

A Category 5 cyclone is the most intense classification, with winds of at least 157 miles per hour.

"Yet the optimal approach to address nervousness and any apprehension and anxiety is to be prepared."

Inhabitants are being advised to fortify their houses with sand barriers and plywood sheets, and to accumulate necessary supplies.

Broader Consequences

Warnings are also in effect for areas in the neighboring country such as the main city, Port au Prince, the Dominican Republic and eastern Cuba, where the hurricane is projected to bring similar effects by the midweek period.

Mudslides currently triggered by the hurricane have resulted in two fatalities in the country, according to the nation's Civil Protection agency.

Future Course

The hurricane is projected to move across Cuba by midweek before passing across the Antillas Mayores and out into the Atlantic Ocean.

By the point it makes contact with Cuba, it is anticipated to have reduced to a third-level cyclone.
