A revitalized the Russian player claimed his first title for over two years with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the competition title decider.

Medvedev, a ex- number one, has experienced a difficult year, winning just a single victory at the Grand Slams and experiencing a meltdown at the American major.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his serving in specific - led to him exiting of the world's top 10 and finally parting ways with long-time mentor Gilles Cervara.

Presently collaborating with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, the tennis star has gradually advanced in the last few weeks - climaxing in a tightly fought three-set triumph over opponent Moutet.

This marks his initial title following the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hardcourt after March of the previous year.

The win also signifies the Russian has secured twenty-one victories at 21 distinct tournaments.

"For the first time I am participating in a competition with my children together, so to secure a title is particularly special," commented tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This title is in dedication of my younger daughter Victoria, because the initial championship I achieved when my child her name was delivered was for her."

Medvedev, the past champion, had been defeated in his past six title deciders, featuring in that event previously this season.

Medvedev's defensive approach and frequent emotional displays on the tennis court had caused some to question if his capacity to play at the elite level was finished.

Yet the 29-year-old has altered his approach in the last few weeks, striving to come to the net and perform positively, reinforced by an better serve.

The champion came back from a disadvantage in the opening set against the tricky opponent, winning 4 of the last five games to go ahead.

The pair traded breaks in the middle set before the challenger, attempting for his maiden ATP Tour championship, gained dominance to create a decider.

He saved 4 early opportunities in a close final set before the Russian won the break to fifteen to secure the win.

Fittingly, Medvedev earned the title with a point at the net area, with the Frenchman unable to control a return after over two and a half hours.
