Exactly 30 anniversary after the original Toy Story film debuted, establishing Pixar as a leading film company and introducing audiences to beloved figures like Woody (Tom Hanks) and the space ranger (Tim Allen), who are now famous worldwide.

In 2026, the fifth installment is set to arrive. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 appeared recently, offering a glimpse into the storyline but keeping viewers wondering how it will resolve the ending of Toy Story 4.

Bonnie's New Toy: A Digital Device Frightens the Toys

The preview shows Bonnie — who received Andy's toys when he left for college — getting a latest plaything, one that alarms Woody, Buzz, and the crew. Bonnie gets her first tablet computer, and she is thrilled about it.

Theoretically, the frog-shaped tablet will animate just like Bonnie's other toys. Still, the characters appear to consider it as a danger intending to supplant them, which it probably is.

The Cowboy's Comeback: Mysteries from Toy Story 4

An element the teaser doesn't touch on is why the sheriff is returned with his companions in Bonnie's room. The finale of Toy Story 4 depicted him embark on a fresh journey with the shepherdess (Annie Potts), journeying with a carnival and assisting giveaway items locate loving owners.

Certainly, Pixar will explain the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Witnessing him show up in the familiar setting without warning is a little strange, however. It also makes us wonder whether his partner will have come back with Woody. And what about Duke Caboom (the star)?

Connections from the Previous Film

Fortunately, some elements are continuing from the prior film. The last thing the cowboy did before departing for his new life was hand over his sheriff badge to the cowgirl (the voice actor), entrusting her as the leader of the toy domain. The clip shows the insignia pinned to her outfit.

Hopefully she is remains the key figure among the group.
